What is an EPC?
A Energy Performance Certificate or EPC is a required document that is needed should you wish to sell or rent your home. It is a legal requirement to have valid EPC in place prior to any sale or rental.
It provides information to the purchaser or tenant as to the energy rating and efficiency of the dwelling and what if anything can be done to improve the current rating.
It also gives a good indication as to what has already been done to the property.
EPC’s are currently valid for a period of 10 years from date of issue.

Qu: Can I check to see if my property has a valid or expired EPC before contacting you?
Ans: Yes, you can log onto the government register which can be accessed by anyone Find an energy certificate - GOV.UK
QU: I have checked and have gotten a valid in date EPC, however i have installed some of the measures that was recommended on that EPC. Do I need a new EPC?
Ans: Under current legislation you do not require a new EPC. However if you are about to sell or rent out your property it is probable that the improvements have made a positive impact on the previous EPC and would be more reflective of the properties current condition and give the property a higher energy rating.
